I saw this location when I was rushing along the Hume Highway heading for a meeting in Melbourne. I almost didnt stop. But there was something about this old hut in a field of purple (which is a weed known as Patersons Curse!) that made me pause. The friendly property owners gave me permission to camp overnight and photograph the scene in the morning light. My sunrise shot, entitled On the Road to Gundagai, later became one of my most famous prints and has since sold out. This is one of the other shots I took just a little bit later, when the sun was full in the sky. The broad swathes of colour were beautifully juxtaposed with the lone hut and tree. Ironically, it wasnt long afterwards that this old building collapsed. It showed me that we often need to take opportunities when they arise, or the moment may be gone forever.
